Winners of SFER IK Award announced
December 2023

The winners for the “SFER IK Award 2023: Art in Nature”, for which András Szántó served as a juror, were announced in early December at a private event hosted by Superblue in Miami, during Art Basel week. First place went to Antoine Bertin, for his piece “The Bat Cloud”. Special recognition were granted to Mari Nagen and Leandro Lima for their work “Siren.” Second place was for Rana Haddad and Pascal Hachem for “Pulse”, and third place to Mika Revell with “Symphony of Circuit and Soil”. SITE Santa Fe, New Mexico, in cooperation with the Portland Art Museum, Oregon, and the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs has announced that Jeffrey Gibson, will represent the United States at La Biennale di Venezia, the 60th International Art Exhibition. Frankenthaler Climate Art Awards Winners Announced
April 2022

Presented by Asia Society and the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation in collaboration with the Hirshhorn Museum, National Gallery of Art, Phillips Collection, and Environmental Defense Fund, the Climate Art Awards will be presented to Maurício Chades (School of the Art Institute of Chicago), Douglas Tolman (University of Utah), and Alexa Velez (Washington University in St. Louis) on April 2 in Washington, D.C.

Spirit of Ecstasy Challenge Winners Announced

Working across the fields of art, fashion and design, Shanghai-based Bi Rongrong, Marrakech-based Ghizlane Sahli and London-based Scarlett Yang have been selected as winners of the Spirit of Ecstasy Challenge. Each designer has been invited to use textile to create a unique work inspired by the ethos of Rolls-Royce, as symbolized by the Spirit of Ecstasy figurine. Read More call_made

Introducing the Spirit of Ecstasy Challenge

Muse, the Rolls-Royce Art Programme, has announced the inaugural the Spirit of Ecstasy Challenge, a new initiative celebrating both tradition and innovation. This biennial design project will invite three emerging design visionaries to create unique works inspired by the ethos of Rolls-Royce, as symbolized by the Spirit of Ecstasy, the sculptural figurine that adorns the bonnet of every Rolls-Royce motor car. Through the project, Rolls-Royce seeks to discover new and emerging talents in the design world and take them on an exciting journey. Read More call_made

Open Call for Artists: Announcing the Frankenthaler Climate Art Awards
December 2021

Responding to the urgency of accelerating climate change, Asia Society and the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation are launching the Frankenthaler Climate Art Awards, organized in collaboration with the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, National Gallery of Art, and The Phillips Collection and with support from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the Environmental Defense Fund. Selected via an online open call launching on January 10, 2022, three winning artists will each receive $15,000 and be honored at an event in Washington, D.C. in April 2022. Read More call_made

2021 BMW Art Journey Winner Announced

Artist Julien Creuzet is the winner of the tenth BMW Art Journey. In a poetic journey that intertwines personal discovery with profound concern for the environment and a generous spirit of sharing, he will center his travels around a geographically and culturally distinct region and his ancestral homeland: the Caribbean. “Creuzet’s journey does not take him to a distant, unknown destination, but rather allows him to return to a familiar place–a place that for him stands for family, youth and education,” said the jury. Moholy-Nagy Foundation wins D&AD Award

The annual D&AD Awards are the most prestigious benchmark for creative excellence in design and advertising. In 2020, the Moholy-Nagy Foundation asked Marina Willer to create a new identity and website to promote the artist’s work and his legacy. The mindset and methods used by Moholy-Nagy directly informed the craft-based approach. Using techniques inspired by the artist’s experimental approach, Marina and her team created a striking and sympathetic identity which perfectly honours Moholy-Nagy’s amazing legacy.  Read More call_made

2021 BMW Art Journey Shortlist Announced
May 2021

During this year’s Art Basel in Hong Kong, Art Basel and BMW announced the 2021 shortlist for the BMW Art Journey. The artists include French-Caribbean artist Julien Creuzet, Korean cinematographer Kelvin Kyung Kun Park, and Chinese artist Alice Wang. Launched in 2015, this is the 10th edition of the BMW Art Journey, which sends artists on journeys of creative discovery all over the world. Like a mobile studio, the BMW Art Journey can take artists almost anywhere in the world to develop new ideas and envision new creative projects. Read More call_made

Fifth Audemars Piguet Art Commission, by Phoebe Hui
April 2021

The fifth Audemars Piguet Art Commission, by Hong Kong artist Phoebe Hui, has been unveiled at the Tai Kwun Center in Hong Kong, ahead of Art Basel, with Ying Kwok serving as guest curator. Responding to the commission’s theme of complexity and precision, the installation is titled The Moon is Leaving Us, because the Moon is slowly drifting away from the Earth. Its main part is an assembly of 48 screens which move in unison. Moving in front of each screen is a fragmentary image of the moon. Elsewhere in the space, a drawing robot, Selena, reconstructs the side of the moon we cannot see. Following the previous four commissions, Hui’s work demonstrates how art can help us negotiate the mysteries of the universe. Read More call_made
